  • Problem with my Waverunner III (650) Video inside..

So I have this strange issue with my new waverunner, it seems as when I'm running water through it the engine is hitting some kind of a limiter (see video)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zFnUV0hHuU

However when I remove the water hose it takes the engine a few seconds but it starts revving normally again...

Any ideas what could cause this issue? This jet ski has a brand new engine...

    Thanks

Are you running NGK B"R" plugs in there?

Boy that sure does seem odd. I wonder if its possible there is water getting into the cylinders when running on the hose. Try putting a spark tester on it. While it is running on the hose see if the spark is "breaking up" if it is, you know your problem is electrical. However if its not, and its glowing a solid orange, you may have a bad base gasket, head gasket, or exhaust manifold gasket. Another easy test would be to pull the plugs out right after running on hose and see if there is any water on them.... good luck and let us know!

Air leak was my second guess.. where it ends up spiking the RL..

          How does it idle?

Mine was doing the same thing. I did TONS of research and ended up replacing the head gasket, and that fixed the problem. I noticed that you have the water running while the engine is off, this is a very bad idea and most likley what would have caused the head gasket to form a leak. Always make sure you start in the right order, Engine on-Water on, Water off-Engine off. You never want water running to it while the engine is off.
