WaveRaider 1100 Bogs down when trottled

I took this ski out for a test run. It idles fine and can move out to launch. As soon as you give it some gas, the engine starts to bog down. Initially you can get it to biuld some speed and almost plane, then if you stay on the gas, it will stall, if you let off, you can keep it idling. The previous owner has a primer system installed to replace the choke. After coming back in a few times we fixed an exhaust leek in the rear that we thought was messing up the air intake, we then also replaced the fuel filter thinking it was cloged. Each time it sounded better going out, but repeatedly would bog out. An interesting note, when I would go out, and pull and push the primer while riding, I was albe to get the ski up to high speeds, but could never get it to remain there without using the primer as the fuel

Any help would be great, where to start looking:(.

I would check the fuel system from the tank to the filters. The screen in the tank can get clogged. Since you changed the filter check after it in the system as well. The fuel pump can get gunked up too. The engine will idle well but won't get enough fuel when you open up the carbs causing it to bog down.

I've checked the fuel pump, and it looks clean. One thing that is leading me in an other direction is the fact that this ski has a primer system installed, and when out on the river with the engine having this problem, I would pump the primer a little with one hand while steering and throttling with the other. This made the ski take off at high speed, but only for the burst the primer gave it.
I've read in another post about this topic that it could be the gas tank air check valve not letting in air when the carb draws fuel, thus restricting the amount of gas it can draw upon. I notice air building up in top of the fuel filter as well.
wondering how comon it is for that check valve to go bad, and about a way to test it. they want $30 for one at Yamaha, but I see the same part on ebay for HHO convertions for $3

Your internal carb filters are clogged... Common with older ski's..

The previous owner replaced the carbs two years ago with a Riva kit. Could the filters still be clogged with only two years on them?

Yes...your filters could be clogged after only two days if you get some crappy gas or knock some sediment loose in your gas tank and gets sucked through the lines.

I took it to a specialist. All the fuel lines are clean, the tank is getting air. The Carbs have been removed and checked. The word to describe them was "brand new looking" all filled with fuel. No clogs. New reeds, inspected and fine. The only thing that was wrong in the system was that the fuel filter was on backwards.
Does anyone have any idea what would be making this jet bog when you get speed up????????????
I still keep going back to the fact that when using the primer, to put fuel in the carb, it takes off like a rocket to the moon, then dies when the fuel is gone.

That could have been the problem. The fuel filter is designed to flow without too much restriction, in a certain direction. Flip that around, and all bets are off. The reversed filter was probably restricting the fuel so that you had enough to idle, but not enough flow for a high speed burst.

The last owner said he fogged the system last year, could that somehow be messing with the gas. I've read that there is a procedure to unfog the ski by running it on the hose with the old plugs emptying the old gas, then replacing the plugs and new gas. Could this be the problem?

After much to do, we have a moving, almost albe to keep from stalling jet craft. To summarize: The craft starting out bogging, couldn't hit speed, unless you manually used the primer, then it would take off, until the fuel ran out. We pulled the carbs which looked prefect top in to bottom,we blow out the fuel lines, and noticed a blown lower seal. We pulled the engine, replaced the seal, and feeling strong about that beign the problem, took the boat out, only to have the same problem.
We then checked the gas tank air valve, bypassed the reserve swith, bypassed the fuel filter, turned the high speeds all up 1/4 turn. Each time with no results. Finally We pulled and rebuild the fuel pump.
Now we can take off, but there is a dead zone in the trottle abour 5000rpms where it struggles. You can bypass this with a shot of primer, and take off. The ski runs solid, and fast, but......if you let off too quickly, or I should say in the wrong possition, while making a turn, or let off too fast at once, the engine stalls. If you give it gas through the turn (scary), it says going. I went back after my mechanic told me to turn those carbs back to the orig position. I turned them 1/8 to start, went out and it seemed to run better, easier to keep from stalling, will now pick up from idle straight to 60mph, but still bogging when I try to do quick turns at lower speeds. It's almost like it doesn't have anytihng but slow, and rocket fast.
Any help, will taking the carbs back 1/8 more help me out or am I missing something.
