  • Blown inner and outer rear seals on SBT engine

Its been a while since I have been on here.
I put an SBT engine in MY 99 GP1200 about 3 yrs ago. The summer of the engine replacement there was just enough time to break the motor in. Then had to winterize.
The next summer I ran the ski about 10 hrs max. - Too busy
Now this summer the first time out the ski started running really bad at idle. Opened the seat to find a lot of metal flakes and alot of oil around the rear seals.
After taking off the coupler housing both seals were blown out and back against the coupler.
Can I just pull the motor and put new seals in it or is there possibly other major damage done.
Please advise me on what to do.

    Thanks

Very possibly just a seal failure. You would have to take it out and apart anyhow, so I say go for it.

Im trying to find when I bought the motor. It might have been 2 years ago. I hope, then it will still be under warranty. I really dont want to tear the motor down to put $20.00 worth of seals in it.
What kind of warranty does SBT have on seals blowing?

If your out of warranty, your out of warranty.. That's my take.

Gave SBT my serial number and they had all the info, date of purchase etc...
Engine still under warranty. Already got it to UPS.

          Thanks SBT.
          Great people to work with.
