  • yamaha fx 140 only does 7000 rpm when hammered

after replacing the ecm in my fx 140, i took it out to the pond to change the oil, rode it around for awhile and when your running it as hard as it will go it only raps out at 7000 rpm.......my question is when swapping out ecm's do you have to take it in to the dealer to have them configure the new ecm?

      Call the dealer?

That's a joke. All you'll get is a "salesman" for the service department, not a Yamaha Technician. All they can do is speculate anyway. They'll tell you to "bring it on in to the shop".

I had the same problem with one of my FX140's, only 7000-8000 rpm at WOT. New set of NGK spark plugs solved problem.
      Just tryin' to help out.

      I ride: XL800, XL1200 Ltd, FX140
