quick question. i just bought a yamaha III 97. the guy i bought it from told me to mix on quart with five gallons of gas. i forgot what kind of oil he said. i think he said use marine 2 stroke or marine 2 cycle oil. If i need lets say 2 cycle oil can i just run up to west marine and get any marine 2 cycle oil. i did a search but no results had the specifics of the oil. thanks in advance. im looking forward to taking it out for the first time tomorrow.

You can use any 2 stroke oil you wish. I am brand loyal, prefer high quality, and have always used Yamalube in my Waverunners. Your gas/oil ratio should be 50.1, just look on the side of the oil carton that you purchase and it will tell you how many ounces of oil you need per gallon of gas.

Your friend telling you to put 1 quart of oil for 5 gallons of gas is incorrect. He must have meant to say 1 pint (1/2 quart) for 5 gals gas.
    Just tryin' to help out.
