2000 XL 1200 Limited (No thrust on takeoff)

My ski will not go on take off. When I give it power the motor will rev up but the ski acts like its not getting enough water to move. If I start off slow and build speed it does good and I can go to WOT. I've been told this happens because the ski has to much power for the weight.. I can't imagine Yamaha making a ski that would have this problem...........Can any one help?

Sounds like you need a pump seal kit, this is the foam packing around the intake grate and ride plate, if it is falling apart you will cavitate, also check impeller to wear ring clearance, if that is too much you will also cavitate.
