04 xl700 won't shut off with kill switch or lanyard

I've tested the start stop switch and it's fine. The thermo switch has been unplugged for a while but shouldn't have anything to do with it and plan to replace it. It's a salt water boat that has sat for a while and there is lots of corrosion in the elec box. I think there is an internal switch in the CDI that is causing the problem. Saw a thread from 08 about the same problem but no resolution. I would like to figure a way to bypass the cdi to kill the ign. Any Ideas? or has anyone figured this problem out?

I dont know of a way to bypass the switch, but if you track down an electrical diagram you may be able to trace a few of the wires that might help you do so.
