65U 1200 cc non-pv starter bendix replacement steps

I need to replace the bendix on this craft and just figured out the flywheel has to come off to get the old one out and new one in. This is a 98 1200XL which is a major pain because of the lack of room!
I guess I'll try to use the universal flywheel puller to pull the flywheel off while still in the ski, otherwise, taking the whole motor out just for this one part seems silly but don't see any other way around it.

Its much easier to change it with the engine out.
