    new relay 91 WRA650 same problem dead - one tap on the electrical box and it starts

    Help, I don't know what to do next 91 WRA650. thought I had a bad relay replaced it and same problem.. starts runs fine shut off engine dead nothing. I can tap the black box with Relay and CDI and it fires right back up... a very light tap at that, one knuckle... On the water I have my daughter bang the ski with her fist right where the relay is and that's been working...

    could this be the CDI? it is the only other part that is in the circuit? I am a new to the electrical part of these skis....

    Check for weak grounds, clean anything that looks like it may have corrosion on it.

      I looked for any signs of corrosion, it was so clean and shinny I would have thought it was a year old not twenty!

      I also re-seated the fuse, thats the only other thing I could think of. CDI was perfect no cracks in the potting all butt-connectors looked good, I crimped those in the starter loop...

      I guess I will have to wait until I have a failure that banging the hull wont fix....

      BTW replacing the solenoid was quite easy, I hope my next adventure is the same.
