  • 1200XLT no spark

Ski went bad the other day at the lake while I was Ideling. I am not getting spark so I tested these values per service manual with plugs out cranking engine over.
CDI- no voltage from any lead coming from CDI to ignition coil
    Pick up coil- 1V
    Lighting coil- 6V
    Recifier-5.5V
Does it sound like the CDI? Is there another method to test the CDI? Should I be looking at something else?

The CDIs do fail like this, but check your grounds too. (in the electrical box)

I checked the grounds all ok. I do not get any voltage from the cdi to any of the coil's when the cdi does fail is this common or is there usualy voltage to the other 2 coil's? On my pick-up coil I am getting 1V (that is with a digital meter set on ac) spec calls for up to 5V is this normal? I was also told to check the water temp sensor for this would cause no spark I am getting 15K ohm which looks ok.

Your reading should be closer to 5v, test the stater, your problem may be there.
