Just put jet ski in water for first time this year, ski was winterized at Yamaha dealer last october at end of riding season for us, jet ski started and idled well in water , hit throddle and throddle stuck wide open and would not slow down, hit kill switch and ski would not restart. took to yamaha dealer and they did compression test and only 2 cylinders are firing, plugs are wet also, they think water may have got into engine, is this possable and how could water get into the engine, does this mean a total rebuild of this 4 stroke fuel injected ski? It ran great last season and started right away this year in the water.

Only do a compression check on a warmed up Yamaha engine (ALL YAMAHA 4 STROKES). You will get false readings if the engine is cold, it just the way the valves seat when the engine is cold, there may be nothing wrong with the engine besides the throttle being stuck, free up the throttle and fire it up then check the compression.
