1999 Yamaha XL1200 Ltd. Oil Warning Indicator

Locked the last post on accident & could not edit it.
Need to know if the oil warning light/buzzer is just an indicator for the level in the tank being low. The oil is over half full but the oil warning indicator is on. Does the warning indicator sound if oil is not pumping or just if the oil is low. Its a pv engine. Just fixed the leak at the intermediate shaft last night & i filled it up with gas the oil was almost full & after 20 minutes of riding the thing starts beeping & flashing. Any advice??? The sensor could be bad, pull it out of the tank and take a look at it, move it around and see if it reads properly, flip it up side down see what it reads.

Thanks.Thats exactly what it was. The sensor was sticking.
