Waverunner III Top-End Installation Problem

I just purchased a new top end for my Waverunner III and am having some problems getting the new pistons in the new cylinders. Is there some kind of trick to getting the pistons back into the cylinders? I think I have tried just about everything I can do to get them in but am having some difficulties. The engine is still mounted. Please tell me I don't have to take this engine out just to get the new pistons and cylinders on. If there is anyone out there that has done this before that can shed some light on the process I would greatly appreciate your help.

It’s much easier to do if you remove the engine from the ski.
