2000 XL 800 cylinder removal

I am trying to remove the cylinder jugs off the crank case and they seem very tight, does anyone have a suggestion. The motor was locked up but the cylinders look great, crank is good, any ideas on how to get these off? do I need to remove the power valves?

Disconnect the valve linkage, unbolt the cylinder base and unbolt the exhaust manifold, the gaskets maybe the only other thing holding them down.
