  • sbn 44 fuel pump problem

Hi I have a 1998 xl 1200 i just bought 3 carb kits from SBT and new 1.2 needle and seat, with the needle and seat installed i can only get 35 psi pop off with gold spring i then bought oem from yamaha and achieved a pop off of 65 psi,i then noticed the psi was dropping and was leaking from the fuel pump i just rebuilt with the kit i received from SBT is there a problem with these needle and seats and will this leak cause a lean condition as i rebuilt the carbs last year with the same kits didnt check popoff and the new engine from SBT blew two pistons after one tank, the pistons showed a lean condition.any thoughts on this would help.
    regards

Re: sbn 44 fuel pump problem

If the pop-off is too low then you will get flooding at low rpms, The needle and seat should not be leaking down, this will cause a flooding condition too. If you have issues with the fuel pump seals leaking then that can cause a lean condition. Contact Nick and talk to Him so we can help get things fixed up. 1877-330-0231
