Overheating on a 1990 waverunner lx

Just traded for this waverunner took it out for the first time, started overheating right away went into limp mode ido notice an exhaust leak inside the compartment any ideas on what to look at first

It could be blocked cooling lines, fix the exhaust leak and blow air through all the cooling lines see if sand or shells are restricting the lines.
