  • yamaha 1200 cavitation problem ???

    today a yamaha 1200 came into our shop for cavitation problems .so we pulled the pump and installed a new housing with replaceable wear ring then added a new impeller. after reinstalling the pump we went to the water to test run it and to my suprise it was still cavitating .i sealed all the pump parts when putting it back together so what did i miss ???? please help !!!

    2 things come to mind, 1 is the mid shaft splines are shot and the drive shaft is spinning in it under load or the foam packing/seal between the ride plate and hull is falling apart, Riva Racing makes a pump seal kit to fix this issue and replacing the mid shaft and possibly the drive shaft should fix the other issue if that's it.
