  • Crank Seal (flywheel side) Leak Question 2001 XL800

I put on my SBT exchange cylinder set, was doing a leakdown test and discovered a small leak (1 psi per minute or less, starting at 8 psi) on the flywheel side crank seal. I know I should split the case and change the seal, but the leak is not around the shaft, it is on the right side outter edge of the seal where the case halves meet. Is it possible to clean this area up and seal this leak with anything else rather than split the case? I know most peoples immediate response will be split them and new seal, but this is the only leak I have, even when rotating the crank.
