I wanted to switch to premix and was wondering if there would be any harm in leaving the oil pump and tank installed and simply not putting any oil in the tank.

it is not recommended to leave the pump installed with no oil going threw it for the reason of the risk of the pump locking up and doing damage to the motorSBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.
