• Help what is wrong

I have 1997 gtx . Put new sbt motor in it and it runs great out of water. When in the water it will not turn more than 3000 rpm wide open. Sometimes it will up and take off for about a minute then come back down to low rpms. The plug on pto cyclinder looks great but plug on mag is wet like it has flooded. Any suggestions. Ohh yeah airscrews are set so i know thats not it. It has good fire from both plugs. Any suggestions

sounds like fouled pluggs and as Bill would say, " snip about 1/4 of an inch off the plug wires and reinstall."

Fouled sparkplug from a bad connection or a leaky needle and seat in the carbs?

You did rebuild the carbs when you put a new motor in there didn't you?

The plug cap has a screw in the end which you screw onto the end of the lead. Wren it's in as far as it will go, wrap a cable tie around the plug cap to lock it on.

Your high screws should be all the way in. Your lows should be 1 1/4.

If they are right it sounds like a misfire. Snip off 1/4" of your plug wire ends and screw the boots back on.

Snip both wires . Plus even put the wire off my other gtx. Same problem. Loading to much fuel in mag cyclinder.

Then your needle and seat must be leaking. Is the lever up too high and the tit on the diaphram holding it open ? The needle lever is to be even with the carb body.
