  • New Carbs for 98 XL1200

Would stock Mikuni Super BN 44s work as replacements for the OEM Mikuni carbs? They are much less expensive and the only difference I can see is the fuel inlets and returns must be modified with tees since the fuel fittings on the carb body only allow for a single in and out. Since the fuel is under pressure it shouldn't matter if there is an external tee vs. one incorporated into the carb?

I tested the pop off on one and it was 10. A bit low? Would I get dribbling with the heavy idle of this PWC?

As long as you get parallel linkage carbs yes you can make them work. Yes 10 is way, way too low. If you have the stock airbox go to 35. If you have aftermarket filters go to 25.

I can change the springs no problem.

I can easily take the throttle linkages off my old carbs to synchronize the new ones. I was just worried because the fuel inlets and outlets were not pointing directly at the neighbor carb and adding the tee sort of makes the fuel take a non-direct roundabout route. But that's okay you think?
