  • POPOFF pressure

I have a theory on the fuel system: Compresion also work below pistons making pressure an vacuum inside crankhousing , leaks in gaskets and leaking reed lowers these . Then pressure and vacuum goes thru the hole in intake manifoil and thru tube towards pulsepump on carburator .Diaphragm and checkvalves do their work and then popoff pressure lets fuel in .

If I have a little leak from reeds and my carburator is old and popoff is 55PSI,
could this be a good reason for having hard time getting started?

Could I lower popoff pressure ? Will low popoff be a disadvatage when engine is started and is to perform at higer RMP?
How low can I go ? Should I just wait for my rebuild kit and keep popoff as it is ?
Waiting for funds to get a new set of reeds.

Ignition is just fine , new coil , plugwires , caps and sparkplugs (BR8HS).
All readings on coils from under the rotor is up to spec.

And my compression is 152 PSI on both cylinders.

My ride is 650SJ 93 mod

      Re: POPOFF pressure

Its to hot to read , just please tell me if Im on the right track or not.

I am incredible at misinterpit text that I read .

I know of mikunis site and have read much of it , but I never get 100% sure.
That is basicly why I use the forums :p

Also I plan on getting a F/A on my mikuni sbn44 , thats also why I need to be sure on what parts I need : Nedle/seat , jetting and what popoff I should go for.
Could these reeds be useful for my 650SJ 93mod?

      Thanks for the input anyway

        Re: POPOFF pressure

Going out to pick up my ski , IŽll be able to work on it in my garage later today , any help on the popoff question will be appreciated .

Also any input on reed valves? IŽll get new stock reeds later next week but IŽve looked into Vforce delta 2 reeds , they look quite impressive. They seem to be a great improvement to stock and due to less need for wide opening of valves, it could last way longer than fiber/carbon valves on a stock reed housing.

Have any one here tried them?
