XLT 1200 Oil Pump Cable

I am working on a friends 2003 XLT 1200 that had the exhaust and carbs removed at a dealer's shop and I am in the process of re-assembling after replacing the reeds and rebuilding the carbs.

The cable that goes from the oil pump to the carbs will not reach the carbs and I don't know why? The mounting nuts will reach the mounting bracket just fine. The cable had been removed at the carb but was not removed at the oil pump. Do I have to pull harder on the cable to get it to connect at the carb end or is something wrong?

I have never seen this ski but am guessing that you should try turning the oil pump linkage and then connect and adjust accordingly. Try that? That's if I have understood what you meant!:)

Hey check with dealer on this one I had my linkage on wrong and you will not get proper amount of oil into cyclinders and really check that cable for wear or if
it is stretched . take it from me I seen my motor go not fault of machine human
error.:emoticonc
